Hi there and welcome to Dollop of Dough! I'm Megan, the writer, recipe developer, and photographer for Dollop of Dough. Here, I teach home bakers how to make impressive desserts that are simple and fuss-free. You'll learn how to make a variety of bakery-worthy treats, from breakfast and brunch goodies, frostings and fillings, to cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and more!

A Little About Me
I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where my love of food began. Cheese curds, frozen custard, cream puffs, and Kringle are some of my favorite Wisconsin foods.
I've always loved food, cooking, and baking. I grew up making boxed brownies and homemade Christmas cookies with my mom, baking recipes in my mom's 90s' cookbooks, and discovering hand-written recipes that my great grandparents from Germany had passed down.
In college, I began learning to bake and develop recipes with my mom's vintage hand-me-down stand mixer. I started making easy recipes like milk chocolate chip cookies and vanilla cupcakes. Eventually, I began creating recipes of my own. I learned to cook, bake, and create awesome recipes through lots of trial and error!
Starting the Blog
In 2020, I was in my last semester of graduate school studying music. I was really burnt out and knew I needed to make a career shift.
I was already baking cinnamon rolls and banana bread to fill the free time I suddenly had. It brought so much joy to me and my family, and I wanted to share that joy with others.
Food brings people together. It's there for the joyful moments, shared around the table with laughter and love, and it's there in the tough times, offering comfort and connection. Food is more than just fuel. It's a universal language-spreading joy, providing healing, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
So I decided to fully lean into baking and learn food photography. I wanted to turn my passion into a career, so Dollop of Dough was born!
I already had an Instagram page sharing my health journey and baking creations, so adding a blog was a natural next step, although I had no idea what I was doing.
All I wanted to do was share my own simple, delicious dessert recipes that every home baker could make in their own kitchen, no matter their skill level!
I kept going and loved that there was always something new to learn about photography and food blogging. It's an exciting challenge, and I'm finally doing something I'm passionate about, meeting people with the same love of food, and working with brands I truly love.
In just a few years, I have been a part of many publications and features like Mashed, Tasting Table, Real Homes, and more! I'm always honored to share my knowledge with others.

More About Megan

I was born and raised in Wisconsin and currently live in Chicago. I'm definitely a Midwest gal and have lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio! Between cat shenanigans and me trying to test recipes and take photos on my coffee table, there's pretty much always chaos!
When I'm not baking, you can find me doing pilates, spin classes, and taking long walks either on the lake and exploring the city. I also love listening to Classical music, reading, watching reality TV, and antique shopping!
Work With Me
I love partnering with like-minded brands to create fun, beautiful things! I've worked with companies like Domino, Nutella, Simple Mills, Emmy's Organics, and GoMacro on recipe development, food photography, and sponsored partnerships. If you think our brands align and would like to work together, shoot me an email at megan@dollopofdough.com. In the meantime, check out my food photography portfolio!
