5 Minute Salted Caramel Buttercream Frosting

This decadent salted caramel buttercream frosting is easy to make in just 5 minutes with 3 ingredients. Whether you use store-bought or homemade salted caramel sauce, it's perfect on cakes, cupcakes, and more!

Ingredients
 
 

  • 345 grams unsalted butter room temperature
  • 400 grams powdered sugar
  • 100 grams salted caramel sauce homemade or store-bought

Instructions
 

  • Add unsalted butter to the bowl of a stand mixer or electric hand mixer. Cream the butter, starting on low speed and gradually increasing to medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula.

  • Add the powdered sugar in 2 additions, mixing on low speed until combined between each (about 30 seconds).
    400 grams powdered sugar
  • Pour in the salted caramel sauce. Mix on low speed until combined. Increase to medium speed for 1-2 minutes.
    100 grams salted caramel sauce
  • Add the frosting to a piping bag for frosting cupcakes or use it to spread on cakes!

Notes

If your frosting is too thick, add 1 teaspoon of heavy cream at a time until desired consistency is reached.
If the frosting is too runny, add 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar at a time.
Storage- Store in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Let warm up to room temperature on the counter before using.
Freezing- Freeze icing wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 3 months. Let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using again.
