Easy Macerated Blueberries

  • Wash and dry your fresh blueberries. Place in a large bowl and gently mash some of the blueberries with a fork, leaving half of the blueberries whole. Don't totally mash them, only enough so a bit of juice comes out.
    200 grams blueberries
  • Add the sugar and lemon juice. Gently stir everything together and let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
    50 grams granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours or until the sugar dissolves and sweet syrup forms around the blueberries.
  • Spoon the blueberries over your favorite desserts and enjoy!

Notes

Storage: Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before using.
Freezing: Place in an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Let the berries thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
