Strawberry Red Velvet Cake

A moist and fluffy red velvet cake with filled with fresh strawberries and slathered with strawberry cream cheese frosting.

This strawberry red velvet cake is perfect for Valentine's Day, birthdays, or any occasion. It has a moist, velvety texture, fresh strawberries, and strawberry cream cheese buttercream!

Ingredients for the Cake

Flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, buttermilk, sour cream, oil, eggs, white vinegar, vanilla, red food coloring.

Ingredients for the Frosting

Softened unsalted butter, full fat cream cheese, powdered sugar, crushed freeze dried strawberries, and vanilla.

First, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, leaveners, and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.

Step 1

In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, sour cream, oil, eggs, vinegar, and vanilla together. Then mix in the food coloring.

Step 2

Mix the wet ingredients into the dry. Divide the batter into 3 cake pans and bake for about 30 minutes. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.

Step 3

Make the strawberry cream cheese frosting by creaming softened butter and cream cheese together in a stand mixer. Then gradually add the powdered sugar.

Step 4

Beat in the crushed freeze dried strawberries and vanilla on low and then increase the speed to medium high. Beat until the frosting is fluffy.

Step 5
