Moist and fluffy 6-inch cake frosted with luscious homemade cream cheese frosting.
This small vanilla cake is mini but mighty! It's made with two 6 inch layers that are moist and full of vanilla flavor. With cream cheese frosting, it's perfect for birthdays and other celebrations.
Flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, butter, oil, egg, egg white, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer. Give the ingredients a mix on low. Add butter and mix on low until the texture is like wet sand.
Turn the mixer off and add the oil, egg, egg white, and vanilla. Mix on low until a batter forms. Then pour in the buttermilk.
Portion the cake batter evenly between 2 6-inch cake pans. Bake at 350°F/180°C for 25-30 minutes.
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Make sure they are at room temperature before frosting.
