These small batch chocolate cupcakes are fluffy, moist, and indulgent. Topped with a rich chocolate buttercream, this recipe makes 6 cupcakes so none of them go to waste!
Flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, egg, oil, buttermilk, vanilla, and coffee.
First, pour the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a mixing bowl. Whisk until everything is evenly mixed.
Next, whisk the egg, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla extract together vigorously in a separate bowl.
Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth. Then mix in the coffee in two additions.
Portion the batter even into a cupcake pan filled with liners and bake for 16-20 minutes at 350°F/180°C.
While the cupcakes cool, make the cream cheese frosting by beating butter and cocoa powder until smooth. Then add the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time and thin it out with heavy cream.
