Oreo Red Velvet Cake

A moist and fluffy red velvet cake with a subtle cocoa flavor decorated with tangy cream cheese frosting.

This Oreo red velvet cake is perfect for special occasions like Valentine's Day. There are Oreo cookies baked into the red velvet cake layers and the cake is frosted with Oreo cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients for the Cake

Flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, buttermilk, sour cream, oil, eggs, white vinegar, vanilla, red food coloring, Oreos.

Ingredients for the Frosting

Softened unsalted butter, full fat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and crushed Oreos.

First, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, leaveners, and salt together in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.

Step 1

In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, sour cream, oil, eggs, vinegar, and vanilla together. Then mix in the food coloring.

Step 2

Mix the wet ingredients into the dry and add crushed Oreos. Divide the batter into 3 cake pans and bake for about 30 minutes. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.

Step 3

Make the Oreo cream cheese frosting by creaming softened butter and cream cheese together in a stand mixer. Then gradually add the powdered sugar.

Step 4

Beat in the crushed Oreos on low and then increase the speed to medium high. Beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
