Easy Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce

Sweet, buttery, and gooey salted caramel to drizzle on anything. It's easy to make in just 15 minutes!

Making caramel sauce at home is easier than you think! This recipe doesn't require a candy thermometer and the caramel is done in 15 minutes. Drizzle on cupcakes, cookies, cheesecake, and more!

Ingredients Needed

Granulated sugar, unsalted butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Make sure the cream and butter are room temperature.

Add sugar to a pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir lazily. It will start to clump and turn golden.

Step 1

After about 5 minutes, the sugar will begin to break down and melt. Continue stirring, trying to avoid the sides of the pan.

Step 2

After a few more minutes, the sugar will melt completely and turn an amber color. Take the pan off the heat.

Step 3

Whisk in the room temperature butter. The caramel will bubble and stiffen a bit. Mix it in as best you can.

Step 4

Whisk in the heavy cream until smooth. Then add the salt and vanilla. Pour the caramel into a glass jar once everything is mixed.

Step 5

Let the salted caramel cool for 30 minutes and drizzle on everything! Want to make this recipe? Check out the full instructions at:
