Ingredients for the Cake

Cake flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, butter, oil, egg, egg white, vanilla, and buttermilk.

Ingredients for the Frosting

Softened unsalted butter, full fat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

First, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, leaveners, and salt together. Then mix in the softened butter until the texture is like wet sand.

Beat in the oil, eggs, egg white, and vanilla until a thick batter forms. Then mix in the buttermilk.

Add the food coloring and divide the batter into 3 cake pans. Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.

Make the cream cheese frosting by creaming softened butter and cream cheese together in a stand mixer. Then gradually add the powdered sugar.

Beat in the vanilla on low and then increase the speed to medium high. Beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
