Homemade Apple Pie Filling

Fresh apple pie filling cooked in sugar, butter, and all the warm Fall spices!

This homemade apple pie filling is way better than canned filling! You can make it in 15 minutes. It's delicious in pies, but you can use it in cakes, cobblers, oatmeal, or spoon over ice cream too.

Ingredients Needed

Apples, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, spices, cornstarch, and water.

Slice and peel (optional) the apples and add them to a pot on medium heat with butter, sugar, brown sugar, and spices. Cook for 10 minutes until tender.

Step 1

While the apples cook, whisk the cornstarch and water together to make a slurry. This helps thicken the filling.

Step 2

Pour the cornstarch mixture into the pot and turn the heat down. Stir until the apples are coated in syrup. Take off the heat.

Step 3

Transfer the slightly cooled filling into jars or Tupperware. Let cool completely before using in your pies and other bakes.

Step 4
