Chewy, delicious "blondie" dessert bars with vanilla bean buttercream.
Butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, vanilla bean paste, gluten free flour, and baking powder.
Unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla bean paste, and heavy cream or milk.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar together. Then, add the egg and egg yolk one at a time. Mix in the vanilla and vanilla bean paste.
In a separate bowl, whisk the flour and baking powder together. Then, fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smooth it out, and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let them cool completely before removing from the pan and frosting.
Cream the butter on high for 5-8 minutes with a mixer. Stop the mixer to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Beat in half of the powdered sugar on low for 3 minutes. Then mix in the other half of powdered sugar and vanilla bean paste. Add cream until the desired consistency is reached.
