Chocolate Truffle Cake

A moist chocolate layer cake filled with rich chocolate ganache and frosted with chocolate buttercream. There are Lindt truffles on top!

This chocolate truffle cake is perfect for chocolate lovers. The cake is fudgy and moist filled with decadent ganache. It's easy to make with pantry staple ingredients.

Ingredients for the Cake

Oil, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, all purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and hot coffee.

Ingredients for the Frosting

Unsalted softened butter, cocoa powder, salt, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream.

First, whisk the oil, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract together vigorously in a large mixing bowl.

Step 1

Gently whisk the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the wet ingredients. Then add the coffee.

Step 2

Pour the batter into two cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting.

Step 3

Make the ganache and frosting. Decorate the cake by piping a ring of frosting around one layer, filling with ganache, and placing the other layer on top. Add a crumb coat and chill.
