Chocolate Chip Biscuits

Flaky and buttery Southern-style biscuits loaded with melty mini chocolate chips.

These chocolate chip biscuits will be a hit at brunch! They're so buttery and have flaky layers with a pillowy soft interior.

Ingredients Needed

All purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, cold butter, buttermilk, and mini chocolate chips.

Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Pulse on low until combined.

Step 1

Add cubed cold butter. Mix on low until the butter is coated in flour and the smallest pieces are pea-sized. Stir in the chocolate chips  and add buttermilk. The dough will be shaggy.

Step 2

Transfer the biscuit dough to a floured surface. Shape into a rectangle with your hands and cut into 4 squares.

Step 3

Stack the squares on top of each other, press them down, and re-roll into a rectangle again. Repeat a total of 3 times.

Step 4

Cut out the biscuits with a biscuit cutter, re-rolling with a rolling pin as needed. Chill for 40 minutes while you preheat the oven to 450°F.

Step 5

Brush the biscuits with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar, and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 6

Serve the biscuits warm with butter and enjoy! Want to make this recipe? Check out the full instructions at:
