Cherry Pie and Cake Filling

It's super easy to make cherry filling at home! Use it in cakes, pies, cupcakes, and more.

You'll never buy cherry filling again after making this recipe! You can whip it up in 10-15 minutes with a handful of pantry staple ingredients. Your cherry pies and cakes will taste amazing!

Ingredients Needed

Frozen dark sweet cherries (fresh work too, just make sure to pit them!), granulated sugar, cherry liqueur (optional), water, and cornstarch.

First, create a slurry by mixing the cornstarch and water together in a small bowl. This will help thicken the filling.

Step 1

Next, add the cherries and sugar to a pot on medium heat. Let them cook down stirring constantly.

Once the cherries have softened and released their juices, add in the cherry liqueur and mix well. Don't let the mixture boil, just let it gently simmer.

Step 3

Finally, pour in the cornstarch slurry. Stir until the mixture becomes thick and glossy. Then take it off the heat and let it cool.
