This chai spice buttercream is an American buttercream flavored with warm spice. It tastes like a chai latte and is perfect on cupcakes, cookies, and more.
You will need softened unsalted butter, spices, salt, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk or cream (optional).
Start by creaming the softened butter in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment on medium high for 5 minutes until creamy.
Slowly mix in the spices, salt, and half of the powdered sugar on low. Pulse the mixer at first to keep sugar from flying out of the bowl.
Next, mix in the second half of the powdered sugar on low speed for about 2 minutes. Then stream in the heavy cream and increase the speed.
