Moist and fluffy banana cake bars frosted with sweet brown butter cream cheese frosting.
Banana bars with cream cheese frosting are a perfect way to use overripe bananas! They're soft and moist topped with decadent brown butter frosting. They're an easy dessert everyone will love.
Bananas, oil, egg, vanilla, apple cider vinegar, flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
Unsalted butter, full fat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
First, mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl. Then whisk in the oil, egg, vanilla, and apple cider vinegar.
Fold the flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into the wet ingredients. Pour the batter into a lined pan.
Bake the cake bars for 25-30 minutes. Let them cool completely on a wire rack before adding the frosting.
For the frosting, start by melting the butter in a saucepan. It will foam, sizzle, and eventually turn golden brown. Pour into a bowl and chill in the refrigerator.
Cream the softened butter and cream cheese together on medium high speed until smooth and creamy.
Beat in the powdered sugar gradually and then mix in vanilla and salt. Increase the speed to medium high. Beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
