Homemade Apple Pie Filling

Homemade apple pie filling cooked in butter, sugar, and cozy Fall spices bursting with juicy Fall flavor.

Homemade fresh apple pie filling is easy to make in 15 minutes and tastes so much better than canned filling. It's delicious in pies, cakes, cobblers, or spooned on top of ice cream.

Ingredients Needed

Apples, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, spices, cornstarch, and water.

Slice your apples and add them to a pot on medium heat with butter, sugar, brown sugar, and all the spices. Cook for 10 minutes until tender.

Step 1

While the apples cook, make a slurry whisking cornstarch and water together. This helps thicken the filling.

Step 2

Pour the slurry into the apples and turn the heat down to low. Stir until the apples are coated in syrup and take off the heat to cool.

Step 3

Transfer the slightly cooled filling into jars. Let cool completely before using in pies and other baked goods.

Step 4

Use the filling in your pies, tarts, cakes, and more! Want to make this recipe? Check out the full instructions at:
