This almond buttercream is an American buttercream flavored with almond extract. It's perfect on chocolate cupcakes, cookies, and more.
You will need softened unsalted butter, vanilla extract, almond extract, salt, and powdered sugar.
Start by creaming the softened butter, vanilla, almond, and salt in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment on medium high for 5 minutes until creamy.
Slowly mix in half of the powdered sugar on low. Pulse the mixer at first to keep sugar from flying out of the bowl.
Next, mix in the second half of the powdered sugar on low speed for about 2 minutes. Start by pulsing this time too.
Once the sugar is fully mixed in, up the speed to medium and mix until the buttercream is fluffy and smooth.
